Isabella Nicastro

Artist member since 2023

Isabella Nicastro is a contemporary Canadian painter based in Toronto, Ontario. Working primarily in painting, photography, and text, her works feature a deeper observation of the influence of domestic spaces on the individual. With emphasis on concepts of lived experience, the perception of self, familial relations, spirituality and religion, and everyday rituals associated with the home environment, her practice often features depictions of traditional still-life and portraiture through a contemporary lens. Her work has been featured in several post-secondary exhibitions and private collections in both Toronto and Vaughan. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at OCAD University, specializing in both Drawing and Painting and Creative Writing.

When did you start making art, and why?

I have been making art since I was about 8 years old. Art has always functioned as the lens in which I understand and experience the world around me, acting as a creative refuge in which I can process complex and intricate internal thoughts and emotions.
